Report from Ann and Jesse

I got a call earlier this week from Ann Adams. She is doing well but needs more therapy. Hopefully she can go home to Attalla while leaving Jesse with Ellen for one extra week. That way, she can heal without more duties.
I personally have had a mini computer problem, the worst thing is that my contact list is gone. Hopefully you will be able to read this by getting it from someone else. Please email me at jjlisenby@yahoo.com with your current email address. Don't try to guess as to whether I already have it or not. If I have it, that is fine.  Hopefully I will have this all going soon. I got a few great photos but have not figured out how to get them over on the blog. They keep re-inventing the wheel in the computer world instead of leaving well enough alone!
Keep your prayers going for Ann and Jesse!

54th Reunion

The class hosted a 54th class reunion on Saturday, August 30th. It was great to see each other. Those who attended enjoyed fellowship, food, a program that included photos and memories shared by the classmates. Each shared what they have been up to and all enjoyed hearing of their experiences.
Many were missed but all were remembered.
This blogger took a lot of photos but can't share them for a while because of computer problems. Check back in a couple of weeks to see it they are here.

Sad News

Photo of Henderson taken by classmate Billy Walker in 2007

Photos sent to blog by classmate Jack Mizell

So far funeral arrangements on Thursday, the 17th, are the funeral will be Monday the 21st @ 2.00 p.m. at Holman Funeral Home.

Henderson Holman died this afternoon sometime between 2 and 3 p.m. Central Time. A lot is not known at this time. He had spoken on the phone with his (ex)wife about 50 minutes before he was found in his apartment. His body will be brought to Ozark and a burial is planned for Claybank Cemetery next to his parents. We do not know when that will be or any information at all. It will probably be determined by the time Martha and Rhoda, his sisters, and Barbie, his wife can arrive. Once we get an address for Henny, one of his sons, and his sisters we will add that to the blog along with any plans.

It's reunion time !

This year there seems to be many conflicts going on for dates to have a reunion evening.
August 30, 2014
has been designated for the CHS Class of 1960 to gather once again
to see friends and plan for our 55th reunion.
Colby's Restaurant in Ozark@ 5 p.m.
is the place and time.
$14.95
will cover dinner, tip and tax. Can't beat it with a stick!!

We hope you can all come.
Please check with those you are still in contact with to make sure they are
aware of this invitation. We don't have everyone's email and a
"snail mail" invitation will not go out this year.
We ask that you call or write all involved to make sure.
We also ask that you send in your updated information of mailing address, phone number, home and cell. If you are reading this, we have your email address
but just give us an assurance for next time along with any other classmates
you may have stored away somewhere.
We appreciate all you each do to keep this class together each year.

Gail Bankston

We got a call from Gail Bankston this morning and we wanted to share the information she gave us with each of you.
In October, Earl retired. In November Gail and Earl's daughter-in-law ( Morris' wife) was diagnosed with breast cancer, had successful surgery and is undergoing treatment. On Tuesday, Gail was diagnosed with colon cancer. She is in the Jacksonville Mayo Clinic where their  son Jeff is presently residing. Gail will have her first surgery, Tuesday, Feb. 4. More surgery will follow once a full diagnoses has been made.
Gail has asked that we tell you that she loves each of you and asks for your prayers. She also says that Earl and the boys ask for your prayers.
The best way to send something to Gail is to send it to her home in Ozark. Even though she has no real idea of how long this will be, your cards and letters mean a lot to her and she wants to make sure that she is able to see each of them. Therefore her home address is the best place for mail. Best guess is that she will return to Ozark in a week or so.

note from a 62' grad

I appreciate you adding my name (a year or two ago) to your website news updates. Even though I graduated in '62 ...  There are people in the '60 class I love.

I remember (some how) I ended up in a car (approx 1959-60) with Bobby Flournoy and Art Lindberg just "riding around" ... I think that night I had my first beer. I found out where Shoat's Tavern was in Brundidge. It was fun. My mother (later that night) suspected that I'd had a beer or two. She asked ... but I never told I was with Bobby and Art ... GOOD MEMORIES!

I miss talking with Bobbi ... we talked occasionally.

I wish Charles Sheffield recovery and good health.

Thanks again     Bob McGraw  CHS '62

New info from Bobby Flournoy's family

Robert wrote: "Dear Friends and Family, for those of you who have not heard yet, the Flournoy Family is relieved to inform you that the soul of your: “Robert,” “Bobby,” “Dad,” “Papaw,” husband, brother, uncle, confidant and coach, Robert Henry Flournoy departed the bonds of earth last night at 11:30 central time and now resides in the presence of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. After two months of suffering from pancreatic cancer, we are thankful that he is no longer in pain. Prior to departing he looked up in prayer and said “God, thank you for all the people in my life who have helped me at some point and I ask for your blessing upon them.” We echo his prayer to all of you who have helped him in his lifetime. Please join us in a celebration of his life, either in person, in prayer or here on his FB page as we rejoice in his liberation from this painful experience. He was known as a man who would give the shirt off of his own back to help someone and at times he needed to wear the shirt that someone else provided. In death, he remains committed to helping others and has given his body to the Genesis Program for further research. In several months we will receive his cremated remains and will spread some of his ashes in the surf zone of Singer Island FL, the tentative address is 2405 N. Ocean Ave Riviera Beach, FL 33404 and we will also lie to rest some of his ashes at the Flournoy Family plot, New Park Cemetery in Ft. Gaines, GA The dates for those events will be posted here as soon as we can make a determination as to when they will occur. In the interim, we be holding a memorial service this Thursday, January 30, 2014 at the VFW Post 4572 which is located at 100 Otter Track Rd. Wetumpka, AL. Thank you to Post 4572, the Ladies Auxiliary, and Flowers from the Heart who have graciously offered to make this event dignified and achievable. We send special thanks to all of you who have followed us and prayed for us through this difficult process, your strength and thoughts are felt here in the Heart of Dixie. We also want to thank the amazing professionals of Tallassee Community Hospital and Community Hospice, you ALL were absolutely amazing and you “get it”, when it comes to making the best of one of the most difficult times a family could experience. Finally we ask you to post your memories and pictures of our father here (and not on his other two FB pages) so we can build a single archive for his grandchildren to view when they are old enough. Again, thank you all for your encouraging words and thoughts over the last few weeks, we are grateful to you all!"

a note from Jackie about Bobby Flournoy

Bob passed away around 11:30 p.m. last night.
All three children were with him as well as other family members.
I will be flying up tomorrow to be with family.  At this time I know there will be a memorial service
but not sure yet if it will be Thursday or Friday at the VFW in Talassee.  I will send an e-mail when I get news.
I know we have others in our class who need prayers, more than we would like but nonetheless,
it is what we do best in a time of loss.
God be with you all,
Jackie
