Sad news of L.C. Mathison
Imogene Mathison Mixson said that a student had an appointment with L. C. 8:00 am Friday morning and he didn't show, which was most unusal for him. He is never late, so they called home, got no answer, contacted the authorities and found him dead in his bed. Apparently he died in his sleep.
Leslie Cornelius (L. C.) Mathison, age 70, died peacefully in his home in Opelika on Friday, September 28, 2012. He had been employed by Auburn University in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, retiring on August 31, 2012. He is survived by three daughters, Dr. Sally Mathison, Long Beach CA, Julie (David) Mallette, Birmingham, AL, and Kerry (John Paul) Schaefer, Carbondale, CO, five grandchildren, Bret Mathison, Jordyn and Austyn Mallette, Kevin Drudge and Charles Schaefer, two brothers, Aron (Marie) Mathison, Shreveport, LA, Julian (Sue) Mathison, Merritt Island, FL, one sister, Rosaland (Jose) Tallet, Bonaire, GA, and one sister-in-law, Dr. Joyce Mathison, New Orleans, LA, and a host of nieces and nephews. L. C. was born on December 4, 1941 in Ozark, AL. He is preceded in death by his parents, Luther Cornelius and Sallie Hughes Mathison, and one brother, Dr. Jerrell Mathison. The memorial service for L. C. will be held on Thursday, October 4, at 2:00 PM at Auburn United Methodist Church Founders Chapel with Dr. George Mathison officiating. Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM in the chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Auburn United Methodist Church.

A little over an hour ago our precious friend, Diane Andrews, while Mickey, Fred, and Shannon were singing hymns in her room, ripped off her oxygen mask, raised her arms and said, "I'm done, It's finished, I'm seeing Angels! and with that she entered the arms of Jesus. Her celebration service will be either this coming Wed. or Thurs. We will post details as they become available. Please keep Mickey, Shannon, Freddy, Peg, our precious Nannie Cook and the entire Andrews and Cook families in your prayers. To God Be The Glory!!

Diane Andrews

Written 14 hours ago
Many of you have already heard that Diane is not doing well today. The Doctors have said she is not responding to her treatment. They have moved her to a room on a floor where they're specialty is to keep her comfortable. Freddy told me tonight she is quiet, her vital signs are still good but her breathing is very shallow. We have been told she could be with us a few hours or a few days. We are still praying for a miracle but we want and I know she would want God's will to be done. I had a sweet little man tell me the other day "Nobody goes home til Jesus calls them home" and we know that this is simple but true.
Please be in prayer for Mickey, Shannon and especially my little 90 year old mother. Today has been so hard for all of us but when it is your child, whether she is 9 or 69 she is still your child.
Thank you all so much.
Please be in prayer for Diane and her
entire family at this time.

Andrews health update
We have had a lot of requests for updates on Diane Andrews when we get them.
Today we found out that she is in ICU in Houston, Texas. Her cancer is shrinking but she has two clots in her lungs and she has pneumonia. Mickey is there with her and her brother is heading that way to be with Mickey. As soon as we know anything else we will let you know.
They have asked for prayers for Diane and Mickey both. We are sure there are many on your prayer list, please add them.

Diane & Mickey Andrews
Diane has completed four more chemo treatments in Tallahassee . Mickey and Diane have flown to Houston today where she will undergo tests tomorrow. They will get the results from the Doctors on Tuesday. Her weight is still a problem. Pray that the treatments are continuing to kill the cancer and that she can gain some weight back in the next few weeks.

All CHS graduates. "Heads Up"
We have had a little contact with members of other classes from CHS. Some of those are interested is what is going on with many members of the class of 1960. I have heard about a reunion that included the classes of 1960-1969 at another school. Supposedly it was a great success. Many class reunions will invite members of other classes to at least one evening during a reunion weekend. Well, how fun would that be for 2013? Why only one evening? If you are in contact with someone from another class that you know would like to see one of the members of the class of 1960, please share the blog and invite them to join the class in 2013. You can also send in an email address and we will add them to the "Heads Up " list when we send out a reminder to look at what new information has been posted. We will also make a list of others to add who were in another class but want to know what is happening. Obviously, the class of 1960 is "what's happening."
Next year, 2013, there will probably be a new high school. Lets work on a tour as a part of the weekend and remember to invite your friends from other classes!!

52nd reunion weekend
The last weekend in April brought much fun as the class members that came gathered together. Several enjoyed a stroll through Pat's Secret Garden on Saturday. Some played golf, at least Billy Thrasher did. At 2 p.m. many gathered to say their last goodbyes to Mary Newsome Smith at her funeral. At 5 p.m. all gathered at Colby's to rehash old stories and visit with old friends. The video shown by Billy Walker was great as usual but the friendships that were rekindled made the weekend. About 25 classmates and 37 individuals made the weekend. The last weekend in April of 2013 will be the next gathering time. Put that date on your calendar for 2013 and we look forward to seeing you all there. Check out the slideshow on the right to see some highlights of the weekend.
Thanks to all who came, see you all next year.
